A 30-year-old Sunrise man was arrested Wednesday and charged with seven sex offenses involving a 15-year-old Pembroke Pines boy, police said.
The mother of the teenager called Pembroke Pines Police on Sunday when her son claimed Keith "Keyoko" Sumlin had sex with him in August.
The teenager told detectives he met Sumlin through a cell phone app. He told Sumlin he was under 18 and Sumlin claimed to be 21, police said.
When the teenager told a friend about the sex acts, the friend told him Sumlin was HIV positive. He said that Sumlin had sex with other young men and boys that he videotaped and posted online with a link to his Facebook page, according to the arrest report.
Preliminary medical checks have revealed that the suspect tested positive for the virus. A follow up also revealed the victim had tested positive, the report stated.
During questioning, Sumlin admitted to having sex with the 15-year-old but claimed he used a condom, police said.
Out of concern for public health and safety, investigators are urging anyone who may have had any interaction or relationship with Sumlin to contact Pembroke Pines Police at 954-436-3200.
